My Poem

Life

Life is cool,
but then again so are pools.
Life is sweet,
but not on the streets.
Life can be wrong
and some places have a quite unpleasant pong,
but as long as you have loving friends and family,
life will never go wrong!

The most famous of all wikis is wikipedia. Goto this site.

  1. Describe what you see on the startup page. Why has this been necessary? The start up page has a logo of Wikipedia and many languages around the logo. This is necessary because it is used by many countries around the world.
  2. Choose the language and look at the home page. Break down and summarize all the elements of what you can see on that page. (eg what tabs, links etc are there, what is in the main section) It has been set up kind of like a newspaper’s homepage and contains Today’s featured article, In the news etc. It also has many other links etc.
  3. Who has written or put together wikipedia? How can this be done? Explain in full. Anyone can write a Wikipedia but you have to supply links at the bottom so they’re able to ensure that it is all accurate and not a load of rubbish!
  4. Spend 5 minutes or so, checking out the site to find what you else you can discover. Write down the findings of this research. Each box is shaded transparently to make it more creative and more inviting to users, There are many links and an easily found search box at the left of the screen. Each page also contains a logo of the wikipedia.
  5. Describe the writing style and the digital literacy used. Everything which is linked is coloured blue texts. Each article/topic has an introduction line containing some information and the word is then linked to the proper source page.
  6. The swine flu is in the news as of late. Is it mentioned on the wiki yet?  Yes. On the right of the English homepage in the box ‘In the news’ at the very top there is a sentence: ’A new strain of swine influenza infects over 2,770 people globally, killing at least 152 people in Mexico (masked police officers in Mexico pictured)’  and a picture beside it.
  7. Check out the swine flu section. Describe what you see here?. What is being advised on this page? Why? Who added the latest entries? How often has it been edited today? How did you find that out? Who wrote those entries? Were they discussed? The flu is being described and how it effects humans/pigs etc. LuisArmandoRasteletti was the last person to update the page today in Amercia. There have been over 50 new posts today. The last post by LuisArmandoRasteletti  was at 11.30 at night. We went to the article and then clicked in the tab at the top of the page and clicked history to view when the last times when the page was edited. Also at the very top of the page there is this box:  Which basically says that the information may change at any given time.
  8. What links did you use to answer the questions in section 7. The Historypage and The Swineflupage
  9. After this research explain what a wiki is, in your own words. A wiki is like a huge information source which people use to find out more abouta certain topic. It can be used to find out just about everything. It can also be edited/created by anyone aslong as links are created to the page where you got your information from. I use the Wikipedia for just about all of my projects that I have to do at School in yr 11. Many students use it too.

My iGoogle page!

Today my whole I.T.A 3,4 class each created an iGoogle to start us off in creating websites. We have began to study webpage design. We all had fun editing them and putting different widgets on it!

We started off and had to apply for a gmail account if we didnt alreadi have one, then we went to Google and up the top right hand corner it had Sign in. Once we signed in we then went to iGoogle and began to edit our very own page!

We went to Add Stuff at the top right hand corner of the screen and then placed widgets and gadgets on our page! I added a Widget where you have to breed and protect rabbits, soo funn!

The most challenging tasks and times within Information Technology was using Microsoft Access. The most enjoyable and exciting time would have to of been to be able to finish SAC301 early so we were able to have a free class to workon other work!
