My September/October Holidayy!!
Hmm… remembering what I done!!
The first weekend I was in Melbourne celebrating my cousin’s 18th!  IT WAS AWESOME!!
For the first week! my dad and I were at home marking lambs, just the two of us and we managed to do about 100 lambs and drench 70 ewes in about 4 hours or so..GOOD EFFORT FOR US!
On Friday of the first week, my dad had to get 4  TEETH TAKEN OUT! So he was in hospital nearly ALL dayy!
That weekend we stayed home all weekend and I completed most of my homework..
And the last weekend I went to DENI UTE MUSTER!!  oooh yehh!  that’s right!  DENILIQUIN UTE MUSTER!  and it was AWESOMEEZ!!!  :D

My LEAST enjoyable part of holidays would most likely been marking the lambs because they were sooo wet and muddy! and they made me smell badd! haha

Using Tutorials

We had to answer the following questions on a Video and Acrobat type tutorial. You try and write a post briefly outlining the following:-

  1. media type
  2. what each one features – content, can you print, save etc?
  3. usefulness
  4. user friendly
  5. Would you recommend this site?
  6. what  appealed to you in each link?
  7. Which style would you prefer to use?

Here are a couple links you may try:

Here is my opinion:

Acrobat Tutorial

Media type
Acrobat online Document reader
What each one features
Hyperlinks, Information, Easy to read, Screen dumps, Printing and Saving options.
Usefulness
It is very useful and explains many things easily.
User friendly
Very user friendly with clear instructions, many screen dumps and highlighting
Would you recommend this site?
Yes I would recommend this site to someone who did not know how to use Edublogs and who is very
eager to learn.
Which appealed to you most and why?
The Screen dumps because they are highlighted and have many arrows and navigation tools to enable you to use it more efficiently.

ACROBATT]

Using Video Tutorials

Media type Video Tutorial

What each one features – content, can you print, save etc? This allows you to Hide columns by using macros etc

Usefulness Very useful for someone who doesn’t know how to use/create macros
User friendly Extremely, everything is well explained etc
Would you recommend this site? Yes
What  appealed to you in each link? The first Acrobat file isn’t too good because it’s boring and you have to read allot. The second link is a Video which I prefer because you can listen to it and do it at the same time.
Which style would you prefer to use? Video

Thursday Quiz

Which Norse god gave his name to this day (Thursday) and of what is he god?

Thor, the Lord of thunder!

Thor gave his name to the Old English day Þunresdæg, meaning the day of Þunor, known in Modern English as Thursday. Þunor is also the source of the modern word thunder.

Search Engines I used:

To find the answer to this question I used Google search. I typed in Thursday’s Norse God and the google search brought up:

google

I then clicked on the Second link and went straight to the wikipedia from google and found this link

I then scrolled down to the Contents and went straight to the section that said Thursday.

My Poem

Life

Life is cool,
but then again so are pools.
Life is sweet,
but not on the streets.
Life can be wrong
and some places have a quite unpleasant pong,
but as long as you have loving friends and family,
life will never go wrong!

The most famous of all wikis is wikipedia. Goto this site.

  1. Describe what you see on the startup page. Why has this been necessary? The start up page has a logo of Wikipedia and many languages around the logo. This is necessary because it is used by many countries around the world.
  2. Choose the language and look at the home page. Break down and summarize all the elements of what you can see on that page. (eg what tabs, links etc are there, what is in the main section) It has been set up kind of like a newspaper’s homepage and contains Today’s featured article, In the news etc. It also has many other links etc.
  3. Who has written or put together wikipedia? How can this be done? Explain in full. Anyone can write a Wikipedia but you have to supply links at the bottom so they’re able to ensure that it is all accurate and not a load of rubbish!
  4. Spend 5 minutes or so, checking out the site to find what you else you can discover. Write down the findings of this research. Each box is shaded transparently to make it more creative and more inviting to users, There are many links and an easily found search box at the left of the screen. Each page also contains a logo of the wikipedia.
  5. Describe the writing style and the digital literacy used. Everything which is linked is coloured blue texts. Each article/topic has an introduction line containing some information and the word is then linked to the proper source page.
  6. The swine flu is in the news as of late. Is it mentioned on the wiki yet?  Yes. On the right of the English homepage in the box ‘In the news’ at the very top there is a sentence: ’A new strain of swine influenza infects over 2,770 people globally, killing at least 152 people in Mexico (masked police officers in Mexico pictured)’  and a picture beside it.
  7. Check out the swine flu section. Describe what you see here?. What is being advised on this page? Why? Who added the latest entries? How often has it been edited today? How did you find that out? Who wrote those entries? Were they discussed? The flu is being described and how it effects humans/pigs etc. LuisArmandoRasteletti was the last person to update the page today in Amercia. There have been over 50 new posts today. The last post by LuisArmandoRasteletti  was at 11.30 at night. We went to the article and then clicked in the tab at the top of the page and clicked history to view when the last times when the page was edited. Also at the very top of the page there is this box:  Which basically says that the information may change at any given time.
  8. What links did you use to answer the questions in section 7. The Historypage and The Swineflupage
  9. After this research explain what a wiki is, in your own words. A wiki is like a huge information source which people use to find out more abouta certain topic. It can be used to find out just about everything. It can also be edited/created by anyone aslong as links are created to the page where you got your information from. I use the Wikipedia for just about all of my projects that I have to do at School in yr 11. Many students use it too.
